Eddie Stobart apprentice scheme nets top award |
The company has welcomed the prize for Apprenticeship of the Year, having beaten off competition from other leading organisations in the sector for its scheme, which is delivered in partnership with System Training.
Eddie Stobart was named winner of the title at the Motor Transport Awards in London, with its programme helping apprentices to gain their LGV licences and providing them with experienced drivers as mentors, as well as training in driving heavy, loaded vehicles and experience of all elements of the business.
"There are many career opportunities in logistics and we are already starting to see talented people emerging from the apprenticeship programme," stated Stobart Group chief executive Andrew Tinkler.
Other winners of 2012 Motor Transport Awards included CM Downton as Haulier of the Year, Palletways, which took the Innovation Award and Best Use of Technology, and Hermes UK, which came top in Customer Care.
